Oklahoma Wineries Harvest Grapes and Medals

Congratulations to Oak Hills Winery in Chelsea, Oklahoma and Deer Creek Vineyard in Edmond, two Oklahoma wineries who brought home medals from the 2008 Toast of Taos Southwest Wine Competition. You can read more about their wins in New Mexico on the Growing Grapes & Winery Escapes Blog.

Summerside Winery in Vinita, Oklahoma has a Harvest Party coming soon on Saturday, Aug.23, 2008 and their wine grape harvest will start in about two weeks. - see Summersidevineyards.com for event details and vineyard directions. Vinita, Oklahoma is right off I-44, so it is on the way to a number of our favorite Ozarks kayaking spots like the Spring River in Quapaw, Oklahoma, the White River in North Arkansas or the Kings River in Eureka Springs. Stop by and taste Summerside wines next time you are road tripping through the Ozarks.

Don't forget that Nuyaka Creek Winery is moving their 2008 Fall Harvest Celebration to the Bristow City Park this September 20, 2008. It should be quite change combining it with a Renaissance Festival in Bristow, Oklahoma!
