Grape Ranch Winery Chooses Texas Over Oklahoma

Jack & Dan Whiteman founded Grape Ranch Winery in the sleepy little town of Okemah, Oklahoma nearly ten years ago. The winery bought grapes from California and bottled the wine here at their popular live music event venue.

Located in eastern Oklahoma on the North Canadian River, Grape Ranch was unique in offering multi-day events with camping on site. Sadly, the owners announced this week that Grape Ranch Winery will be moving to Texas.

The Whiteman family is likely to find a friendly regulatory environment in Texas and it is closer to their home. Currently, Oklahoma does not allow direct shipments to consumers. Only small producers can sell directly to liquor stores and restaurants. Texas also allows wine products to be sold in grocery stores.

One assumes their "Beat Texas" wine will not be their main product going forward.
