Nuyaka Creek Winery Celebrates Bridge Reopening

Traffic is flowing once again on the Okmulgee county side of Nuyaka Creek Winery!

Since March of this year, Nuyaka Creek Winery visitors and staff have been forced to detour around a damaged bridge over the Deep Fork River in Okmulgee County. For more on the background check out this posting from the March archive: Cement Truck Damages Local River Crossing and Economy.

The residents of Nuyaka have had to suffer the loss of this key high water bridge on a number of occasions, but this time things might change for good. Not only did Okmulgee county fix the damaged bridge, they also took action to prevent a repeat. 18-wheelers will no longer be able to ignore the weight limitations on this pair of wooden bridges, as a steel barrier has been erected to prevent semi-trucks from crossing at all.

Stop by and have a look at the improvements, which were put in place just-in-time for the Annual Nuyaka Creek Winery Fall Wine Festival on Sept. 17, 2005.

Hope to see you all there!
